We have finally had some nice days to get out and enjoy the outdoors. The girls love, love, love the outdoors which is great for me because it means we will be able to keep busy this summer pretty easily.
It seems like nice weather has taken forever to come in Illinois this year. Maybe it seems that way because many of the nice days have been during the week when we're working. Soon that won't be an issue, I am done with school on Thursday! We got out the kite that used to belong to my brother and I yesterday and flew it with the girls. It was perfectly windy for kite flying and we didn't even have to leave the house. A great perk to living in the middle of nowhere. A not so great part -- we came back in the house at 5:25 to make supper only to learn that we had no power! Living in the sticks stinks because typically when we lose power, it's gone for a while. We have gone without power for 24 to 36 hours in the past, no fun. This time we had it back by about 10pm. It meant that we went out for dinner instead of eating in and the girls didn't get a bath like I had planned, but it could have been worse. It turned out that a transformer in Garden Prairie had blown and the whole town was out. Here are some kite flying and outside pics to share. I took them with my camera phone that I am learning to love because of it's convenience.

This is our dancing queen...we went to my cousin's graduation party on Saturday, complete with a DJ (really is that typical now?) and Sarah had a blast dancing her little heart out. We had to drag her from the dance floor (unhappily) at 8:00 so we could put her to bed at a reasonable hour. I think we now know how she will enjoy Uncle Ryan and Uncle Brandon's weddings that are coming up in the fall!

This is the sand and water table that Sarah got from Nana and Papa S. for her birthday...a big hit with these outdoorsy girls. We braved the cool weather for mid-May this morning so that they could make a BIG mess by mixing the sand and water together. The orderly, anal retentive part of me was driven crazy by this but I know that really, what harm is there in mixing them? They dug right into the wet sand as well, which surprised me with Sarah as she seems to have some sensory issues with certain things (like brushing her teeth) but this one didn't bother her a bit. I finally had to drag them in for lunch and they both napped very well. I am really looking forward to summer vacation this year with these two. Only 2 more weeks!
