Where's 2?

I can never quite believe how I let time get away from me when I'm home for the summer, but it always seems to happen. I am in the middle of more projects than I care to count right now and I seem to be only adding more rather than crossing them off my list!

Sarah is changing like crazy right now, especially her language! She has started counting to 11 or 12 but she always leaves out the number 2. Why, we're not quite sure because we always use the 2 when we count with her. It's funny to hear, "1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11"

This pic is not of us torturing Sarah...See the piece of chicken in front of her? We are still struggling with our picky eater and have really been trying to dig in our heels with making her eat things that we know she likes/has liked in the past. The girl will eat McDonald's Chicken McNuggets like nobody's business, but when it comes to real chicken, she says, "I'm done! Done now please." This little chunk of chicken was the source of great angst at the dinner table complete with hysterical crying for a really, really long time. The chicken did not get eaten by the way. It seems that the little one is just as stubborn as her daddy! I'm all ears for suggestions from other mommy's about really, really picky eaters...

In other, more yummy news, we discovered a new ice cream shop in town over the weekend. It's called "The Sweetery" and yum-o! There is nothing good-for-you about it but boy, oh, boy does it taste good! The girls had cotton candy ice cream that tasted amazingly like cotton candy.

Boogers and house woes

Interesting name for a post, don't ya think?

We are in the midst of colds in the Hansen house. Both girls are coughing, gooey and in general gross! Shelby is using kleenex by the gross and we need to buy some stock in apple and orange juice. We even missed our weekly play date today as I didn't want to expose the other kids to our sickness (and let those moms in on my fun). I think I missed the playdate more than the girls since it's also my time with my close friends to chat and catch up. Hopefully, they will start to improve soon. Sarah already is showing some signs of improvement, but Shelby isn't yet. Nate swears the colds came from our well-child visit to the doctor last week for Sarah where we found out that Sarah is a shrimp. I already knew she was a peanut, but not to the tune of 25th percentile for height! Dr. was very surprised considering how tall we both are, but it is what it is. The good news for me is that Sarah is currently wearing Shelby's old 2T's that Shelby wore at 18 months.

As for the house, we were going to have the wood around our windows redone at the house in the hopes of having it sided next year, well they started working on it today only to find that the wood under the siding is wet and rotten around much of the house. Luckily it didn't go further than that, but it means that we really, really need to side it now. So, they start tomorrow. The cool news is, I get a pretty new look for the house the bad news is the money. Fortunately for us, Nate is having a busy year with trees. I will have to take some before, during, and after pics for those of you that don't see our house much.

Wish me a less snotty week with healthier children and have a great week all!
